ANGRY WITH SIN

BREAD

15 Hate evil, love good; maintain justice in the courts. Perhaps the LORD God Almighty will have mercy on the remnant of Joseph.

Amos 5:15 (NIV)

16 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: 17 haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, 18 a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, 19 a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

Proverbs 6:16-19 (NIV)

10 Let those who love the LORD hate evil, for he guards the lives of his faithful ones and delivers them from the hand of the wicked.

Psalms 97:10 (NIV)

9 Love must be sincere. Hate what is evil; cling to what is good.

Romans 12:9 (NIV)

BUTTER

“We do well when we are angry with sin, because of the wrong which it commits against our good and gracious God; or with ourselves because we remain so foolish after so much divine instruction; or with others when the sole cause of anger is the evil which they do. God Himself is angry with the wicked every day, and it is written in His Word, ‘Ye that love the Lord, hate evil.’” Charles H. Spurgeon

• God detests pride, deceit, the devising of wicked schemes and those who stir up dissension among brothers.
• I am to cling to what is good.
