THE SELFLESS NATURE OF BIBLICAL LOVE

BREAD

4 Love is patient, love is kind. The selfish desires that once dominated our heart’s landscapes vanish in an instant, replaced by a desire to lavish love on others. • A believer is to use whatever gifts they have received to administer God’s grace to others in its various forms. The body suffers when we – out of selfishness or lack of love for the body – fail to do our gifting’s.
• Biblical love is sincere and motivated out of love for the Lord and others.
• Christ’s love compels me to no longer live for myself but for Him.

• The Lord will guide me always through His Spirit which indwells me. His eye is on me, His Spirit is in me, His protection is over me, His wisdom is guiding me, His love is motivating me, His comfort is encouraging me, His peace is permeating me, His sufficiency satisfies me, His power equips me, His promises excite me and His Word endears me.
• I am to walk in a manner worthy of my high calling in Christ, always through His power for His glory and my good.
• My desire is to stand firm in all His will, mature and fully assured. That is the best place on earth for me to be despite circumstances that only appear detrimental to my fleshly eyes.

CENTER ON HIS PLAN

HEART SAVOR

• My prayer for myself and for my family is to “stand firm in all the will of God, mature and fully assured.” That is, of course, the best place to be no matter what the circumstances may shout.
• God has a plan which is both perfect and pleasing. 2 Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is–his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2 (NIV)
• God has a prepared plan for a prepared life which is indeed abundant – one to prosper and not harm, to give hope and a future. I have a responsibility to present myself to God as one approved, one who does not need to be ashamed and who can correctly handle the Word of Truth.

I need to be gently rebuked because I have refused to see the Church as Christ sees her. I need to be reassured that the gospel that reconciles me to God can also reconcile me to others. I need to be reminded that God can use the Church to heal church hurt and that emotional vulnerability is a self-sacrificing thing. I NEEDED THE GOSPEL, AND I GOT THE GOSPEL. The gospel isn’t just for salvation. It’s for sanctification, too. HEART SAVOR

• Justice is one of God’s attributes which He loves and which is rooted in His character. He desires justice to be emulated by His children as well.
• I am not only to do justice but to seek it. This is part of my high calling as a believer in Jesus.
• My actions are to stem from a right attitude of the heart which is only doable through the power of the Holy Spirit within me. Fleshly obedience sans the heart will eventually fail me.
